APPENDIX – I Responsibilities– The primary responsibility is to manage the acquisition, organization and preservation of the library’s serials collection (including electronic subscriptions) and to maintain the computerised record of serial holdings. This includes maintaining correspondence with vendors and subscription agents, processing timely claims for missing issues, and preparing materials for binding. Additional responsibilities include the scanning of periodicals, alerting journals and other documents to identify articles of interest to the Centre’s scientific staff and acquiring copies and processing them for the library databases; the identification of organizations publishing serial publications with whom we may be able to set up an exchange agreements; contacting these organizations and proposing such agreements; participating in the preparation of articles for the Centre’s journal by checking and verifying references; and carrying out searches on the Internet in connection with all these activities, and downloading documents of interest for the library collection.
APPENDIX – II Responsibilities– Supervise production (organizing, formatting, printing) of the Centre publications and ensure its proper preservation and dissemination; Handling Journal's subscription and supervise mailing and library databases. Duties: 1. Planning for promotions, schedules, estimates, requisitions and uphold the quality for the Centre's publications especially for the publication of Journal of Health, Population and Nutrition (JHPN); JHPN-related works; handling of sales and subscription 2. Formatting of the Centre's publications, i.e. Journal, and other special publications 3. Liaison with press and supervise printing works 4. Supervise of maintaining and updating databases of mailing address, publications list; Handling of Journal's subscribers and its mailing and distribution of ICDDR,B serials and all other occasional publications 5. APPENDIX – III Responsibilities– 1) Organizing UNDP reference unit as an information resource centre with in-house UN materials (like books document, journals, monographs series, videos, audio and documentary CDs etc.) and also other materials and make it available for UNDP's personnel, researchers and persons who are working to implement the projects of UNDP. 2) Create databases and make it available through Local Area Network to every end user 3) Develop computerized library lending system for the users 4) Make the library database in such way so that user can get information through the LAN about borrowed books 5) Configure the Local Area Network for using the databases properly 6) Make arrangement to take back up of databases in CD and MO drive 7) Collecting materials that are scattered in various section of UNDP and return same to respective section after processing and entering data into database 8) Organizing the reference unit at standard level 9) Provide training to staffs of reference unit

APPENDIX – VI Responsibilities– Library Section: Prepare a manual for library. Maintenance and organizing peace library with update technique (specially computer based). Contact different sections of Sampreeti for seeking demand and finally make proposal to E.D. Collecting and purchasing of books, journals and other library materials, publicity of the library, collection of members and arrange book lending. Contact with different libraries and related organization (national/ international) for resource sharing and network developing. Organize and develop proposed three-regional library and training to staff for library maintenance.
Publication: Ensure publication of regular and occasional newsletter, periodicals, journals and magazine of the organization. Develop system of encouraging people to produce peace literature. Printing, circulation and mailing. Registration of 'Shantir Sanglap' and regular circulation. Help to publish fliers, cards on peace education program and other development activities of the organization. Develop 'Sampreeti Publication Cell' to spread peace education and contact other concerned personnel. Send each and every Sampreeti publications to all GB members/E.C. members. Send publications also to national and international contacts.
Peace Education: Documentation of Peace Education activities. Collect documents from different sections of Sampreeti including Regional Centers. Collect information, case studies, minutes, reports and literature form all desks.
Others: Looking after all computers when and as requested by the users. Maintenance proper use of E-mail and Internet. Have a meeting with E.D. once in a month. Meeting will be well prepared. Any other responsibility assigned by Executive Director.
